NICAFV Hosts Dr. Brad Lamm in Edmonton for Intervention Training
In late February 2024, NICAFV organized a significant training event in Edmonton, Alberta, featuring Dr. Brad Lamm. Dr. Lamm, renowned as an Interventionist, conducted sessions aimed at equipping Shelter Directors and Front Line Workers with essential skills on conducting interventions effectively.
Dr. Lamm's expertise lies in guiding families through interventions, facilitating the necessary steps to support loved ones or individuals in need of assistance to improve their lives and potentially save them. His extensive experience includes appearances on major platforms such as Good Morning America, Oprah, Today Show, Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil, and TLC's long-running series "Intervention." He is also a prolific author, blogger, and podcast host, sharing his insights widely.
The training emphasized the versatility of interventions, applicable in various challenging life scenarios such as addictions, mental health crises, intimate partner violence (IPV), suicidal ideation, self-harm, and eating disorders. Shelter Directors and Front Line Workers gained valuable tools and confidence to implement interventions when required, supported by graphic materials outlining the intervention process for quick reference.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire for extended training sessions with Dr. Lamm.
