NICAFV Hosts Second Annual Human Trafficking Training in Ottawa
In February 2024, NICAFV successfully hosted the second annual "Traffic Jam" Human Trafficking training for frontline workers in Ottawa, Ontario. This significant event was co-sponsored in collaboration with the local agency "A New Day," known for its residential programming catering to victims aged 15-25 who have been or are currently being trafficked.
The training program featured a diverse lineup of speakers, including individuals with lived experience, seasoned service providers, legal experts, and law enforcement professionals. Each speaker contributed valuable insights and expertise, emphasizing a trauma-informed approach to assisting victims.
"Traffic Jam" has evolved into a pivotal annual event aimed at raising public awareness and advocating for change at both community and governmental levels. By addressing the unique needs of exploited victims, the initiative strives to foster a supportive environment and enact meaningful reforms.
