Congratulations to Fisher River for the Grand Opening of the New Shelter!

On September 24th, 2024, we celebrated a significant milestone—the grand opening of the new 2nd Stage Women's Shelter, KA-PAH-PAK, in Fisher River Cree Nation.

On behalf of the National Indigenous Circle Against Family Violence (NICAFV), we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Fisher River community for bringing this shelter to life. This invaluable initiative provides a safe and supportive environment for women and children fleeing family violence. It stands as a beacon of hope, offering protection and a path toward healing.

Establishing this shelter is a significant step forward in our shared mission to address and prevent family violence. It is a powerful testament to the community's strength and resilience, reflecting their unwavering commitment to ensuring safety and healing for all.

We applaud the dedication of everyone involved in making this project a reality. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact this shelter will have, bringing hope and healing to those who need it most.

Congratulations on turning this vision into reality, and a special thank you to the team behind this endeavour. May this new space foster growth, healing, and empowerment for all who enter.

As a famous line from the movie Field of Dreams says, "If you build it, they will come."

Best of luck in your new ventures, KA-PAH-PAK!

Warm regards,
The NICAFV Team
