NICAFV AMG 2023

The NICAFV Annual General Meeting and training session for Shelter Directors took place in Richmond, BC from September 6-9, 2023. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Gabor Mate, a renowned expert in addiction and trauma. Dr. Mate is highly regarded for his knowledge in childhood trauma and development, PTSD, and the intersection of trauma and addiction in adults. He is the author of several best-selling books, including "In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction," "Scattered Minds," and most recently co-authored "The Myth of Normal" with his son, Daniel Mate. Dr. Mate has made numerous appearances as a guest speaker on TV shows such as the Oprah Winfrey Show, Netflix, podcasts, and YouTube, where he provides valuable training and resources free of charge.
