Mi'kmaw Family Healing Center (We'koqma'q) Tour

NICAFV Board members had the opportunity to Tour Mi'kmaw Family Healing Center in Mi'kmaw Family We'koqma'q, NS after concluding their Atlantic training and BOD meeting in Membertou, NS

The NICAFV Team experienced a great visit to the Mi’kmaw Family Healing Center (We’koqma’q) on June 28, 2024.

Upon arrival at the shelter, Bev and her dedicated staff greeted the team. Their welcoming smiles and open arms instantly provided a sense of home. Bev then proceeded to give them a thorough tour of the facility. The shelter featured a welcoming main floor with various rooms, an upstairs area with bedrooms, a downstairs outreach office, and a charming backyard with decorated planter boxes.

The team enjoyed snacks and beverages while engaging with Bev and her staff, learning about the shelter's operations and the outreach male position. After their visit, they stopped at a craft store to pick up souvenirs before returning to their hotel safely, feeling inspired and grateful for the experience.
