The Canada Council is now inviting applications from students and graduates of schools of architecture from Canada and/or early career practitioners in the field of architecture and/or art. The fellowship offers a unique opportunity to conduct independent research, as well as gain practical experience in overseeing the daily operations of the Canada Pavilion in the Giardini di Castello, during the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. In addition to carrying out their research projects, fellows will also engage in the exhibition curated by the Living Room Collective, the team officially selected to represent Canada at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale from May 10 to November 23, 2025. The Canada Council will award 14 fellowships, prioritizing applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis people, Black and racialized people, Deaf people or people living with a disability, people from official language minority communities, youth, 2SLGBTQI+, belonging to gender-diverse communities, women and those at the intersections of these identities. The Canada Council will also ensure that the fellowship cohort reflects the regional diversity of Canada. A shared apartment in Venice will be provided in addition to the grant to help support travel and living costs.
